(This is Microsoft's Self-Service Password Reset page. Resetting your account password here will reset across all Cedarville University systems.)
  2. Type your full @cedarville.edu email address in the "User ID" field. If you don't yet have a Cedarville University email address, just use your Cedarville University username + "@cedarville.edu".
(Once entered, the Cedarville University logo will be displayed at the top of the page.)

  3. Enter the characters in the image for the CAPTCHA, and select Next.
(The CAPTCHA prevents computer-generated attempts to reset passwords, by ensuring that only humans can begin this process.)
  4. Using the available options, select how you would like to verify your identity.

You may see one or more of the following options, depending on what information has been added to your account:
    • Email my alternate email
    • Text my mobile phone
    • Call my mobile phone
    • Approve a notification from my authenticator app
    • Enter a code from my authenticator app
  5. Select a method from the available options, and enter the information required.
(To prevent your information from being exposed or compromised, you will only be able see part of the email or phone number on the password reset page. You will be required to enter the complete number or address to continue.)
  6. Depending on the method selected, you may need to retrieve a code from a text message or email, answer a phone call, or approve a notification on your mobile device. After this process is complete, you will be asked to enter a new password for your account.
  7. Once you've entered your new password twice, select [Finish] to complete the process.
  8. You may now use your new password to sign into your Cedarville University account

NOTE: After you change your password, you will need to update that password anywhere it has been saved. The most common locations are:

  • Devices connected to the eduroam Wi-Fi network
(each device will need to be re-connected to eduroam using your new password)
  • Saved passwords in your web browser
  • Your password manager (if you use one)

Unlock Your Account

After three incorrect attempts to enter your username and password, you will be temporarily "locked" out of your CedarNet account. (This is known as intruder lockout.)

While your CedarNet account is locked, you will be unable to login to a University-provided computer and access your network drive files.

  1. After 30 minutes, your CedarNet account will automatically unlock. Please wait at least 30 minutes before trying to log in again.
  2. If you need immediate access to your CedarNet account, or if you have forgotten your username and/or password, please contact information technology at 937 766-7905 or email TechHelp. We are happy to help!

Create a Strong Password

It is very important to have a strong password to protect your CedarNet account and your data. CedarNet passwords guard a variety of information, including financial records and other sensitive personal data. They also serve to protect your identity and reputation by keeping others from accessing your email, CedarNet, and Cedarville records.

Passwords should:

  1. be at least 12 characters long.
  2. Contain at least one number or special character.
  3. Not contain easily-guessable dates or numbers (such as your birthday, social security number, ID number).
  4. Not contain personally-identifiable information (i.e., your name, names of relatives or friends, your hometown, your pets, etc.)
  5. Be easy for you to remember, but hard for others to guess.

Note: Information Technology recommends that you use a password for your Cedarville University account that is unique from all other passwords that you use. That way, a compromise of your your password from another site or service would not endanger your Cedarville University account.

Note: If you are an applicant to Cedarville who is having problems with a password in the Enrollment Services / Admissions portal, please connect with your admissions counselor or call (937) 766-7700 for assistance in resetting your password.
